MediVersa Alliance (MVA) organized a special online session on World Pharmacists Day 2026 titled “Beyond Dispensing: What Does Pharmacy Need From the Next Generation?”
The session was led by Dr. Muhammad Imran Sajid, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy, The University of Lahore, Fulbright Scholar, PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Chapman University, California, USA, and former Postdoctoral Research Associate at Chapman University School of Pharmacy.
The discussion focused on how pharmacy students can prepare for the evolving profession beyond conventional coursework. Key areas included developing a research-oriented and questioning mindset, critical thinking, meaningful scientific work and quality publications, responsible use of AI and emerging tools, and the skills required for professional growth.
The session also explored wider challenges and opportunities within Pakistan’s pharmaceutical sector, including the need for stronger research capacity, local innovation, academia-industry collaboration, regulatory understanding, and pharmaceutical development.
With both junior and senior Pharm.D. students in attendance, the session provided practical guidance on what students can begin developing at different stages of their academic journey to contribute more effectively to the future of pharmacy.
